Online tobacco cessation programs now available through Center for Healthy Living

April 11, 2014

The Center for Healthy Living has added two online tobacco cessation programs to its Web portal. The programs are available to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff system-wide. Spouses and same-sex domestic partners covered on a Purdue medical plan are also eligible for the programs.

* Living Tobacco Free is a two-part, six-week program for those who are ready to quit or are thinking about quitting.

* Staying Tobacco Free is a four-week program targeted at those who have already quit.

The programs are accessible now by clicking the Portal Login icon in the "Things to Do" box on the Center for Healthy Living home page, www.purdue.edu/healthyliving. Eligible employees will log in to the portal with their Purdue career account user name and password. Covered spouses and same-sex domestic partners will create a portal account by registering as a dependent. Once logged in, users will click "Programs/Challenges" to add the new program and get started.

May 30 is the deadline to complete a program to earn a waiver of the tobacco-user additional medical premium for the rest of the calendar year, beginning in July. Those who start the program no later than April 25 should have time to meet the deadline.

Participants must complete all weekly sessions and submit the completion certificate at the end of the program to Tatiana Winship, HR Service Center, FREH. More information on the waiver is available at www.purdue.edu/hr/Benefits/tobaccoCessation.html#Waiver
