APSAC endorses student-written statement of values

February 25, 2014

The Administrative and Professional Staff Advisory Committee has endorsed a student-written statement of values titled "We Are Purdue."

Written by Purdue Student Government, the statement was created in response to hate and bias incidents that occurred last spring. Kyle Pendergast, PSG president, presented the statement to APSAC and other University bodies in December. APSAC endorsed the statement during its regular meeting Feb. 12.

The statement, previously called a creed, includes a chant and describes six pillars, or values, that unite the University and those involved with it. The pillars are integrity, respect, honor, inclusion, innovation and growth.

APSAC voted unanimously to endorse the statement. At the meeting, Beau Moore, APSAC chair, said that the Clerical and Service Staff Advisory Committee (CSSAC) also recently endorsed the statement. The University Senate will vote to endorse the statement during its March meeting.
