Operational research expert to present Barash Memorial Lecture

A leading figure in operational research will speak Oct. 25 on OR's achievements, unmet promises and future possibilities in the Moshe M. Barash Memorial Lecture.

John Buzacott, drawing on his own 50-year career in OR, will speak on "The Evolution of OR: From Operational Research to OM and Policy Analysis." The presentation, hosted by the School of Industrial Engineering with the Global Supply Chain Management Initiative, will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Krannert Building, Krannert Auditorium (Room 140).

Buzacott is emeritus professor of the Schulich School of Business, York University, Toronto, Canada. He is the co-author of four books and author of more than 100 publications in scientific journals.

He has been president of the Canadian Operational Research Society, president of the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS), and chair, ORSA Special Interest Group on Manufacturing and Operations Management (the predecessor society of the INFORMS MSOM society).
