CityBus announces route changes, introduction of new app

August 20, 2013

Multiple changes at CityBus are in place for the start of Purdue's fall semester, including route changes, a new transfer center and a new smartphone app.

Two major route changes are reflected in the CityBus schedule:

* The 24 Ahlers Drive Loop has been canceled due to low ridership and will not return this fall.

* A new 18 NightRider loop will be added on Thursday nights with the same route and schedule as the 18 NightRider loop offered on Fridays and Saturdays.

The new CityBus transfer station is now operational. Located at 316 N. Third St., the new center will include improved lobby and outside shelter spaces and better operational functionality, as buses will be able to arrive and depart independently.

Another recent service improvement offered by CityBus is the addition of its information in the DoubleMap mobile app for both iOS and Android. This free app provides route information and allows users to view bus locations in real time. Download DoubleMap from the app store and select "CityBus of Lafayette" to see routes and stops throughout the community.  A Web-based version of the app is also available.

Purdue faculty, staff and students may ride CityBus for free by showing their valid PUID. More information on schedules, routes and general news may be found on the CityBus website.
