Medco and Express Scripts merge; no action required by employees

September 18, 2012

Medco, the company that manages the pharmacy benefit for Purdue's medical plans, has merged with Express Scripts. Although the combined company will call itself Express Scripts, plan participants will continue to see the Medco name for now.

The merger does not change Purdue pharmacy benefits in any way, and the retail pharmacy network stays the same. Medco ID cards are still valid. New ID cards will not be issued at this time.

Employees don't need to take any action because of the merger and should continue using the following resources:

* Call the number currently listed on their benefit cards or their home delivery bottles for refills or for any pharmacy-related questions.

* Send prescription orders to the same home delivery pharmacy address currently used.

* Use the same website and mobile app as currently used. When the company updates its website to reflect the Express Scripts name and branding, users will be asked to read and accept new terms of use one time when logging in.

For questions, participants may call the number on their Medco ID cards, or may call the HR Service Center at 49-42222.
