Welcome to Purdue University’s Office of Engagement Web site!
The purpose of our office is to link the people of Indiana with university resources that can address issues
affecting the state's prosperity and quality of life. I look forward to working directly with Indiana's business
community, governmental leaders, and citizens to find ways for Purdue to advance that mission.
This site is organized under four goals shared by the University and the state of Indiana: economic
development, educational enhancement, service learning and workforce development.
Under economic
development you will find programs and resources that help Indiana companies remain globally
competitive or assist in nurturing the growth of high-tech start-up companies, which in turn generate
high-paying jobs. Our Technology Assistance Program and our partnerships through statewide Certified Technology Parks are paying real dividends for Hoosiers.
Our educational
enhancement initiatives include Purdue’s Statewide Technology Programs plus innovative ways to
enhance K-12 education through Science
Boundand other outreach programs. Adult learners benefit from conferences
and classes offered through the Office
for Continuing Education and Conferences and the
Cooperative Extension Service.
Service-learning
projects have become an integral part of the educational
process of our students. The highly successful Engineering
Projects in Community Service program is just one of the many ways students apply the skills they learn in
the classroom to help Indiana communities.
If you would like to know more about how you can take advantage of the many resources at Purdue, don’t
hesitate to contact me at vll@purdue.edu. By working together, we can
make Indiana an even more rewarding place to call home.
