Students may seek therapy in the community if they would like to meet with a therapist for long-term therapy, if they are seeking specialized care that is beyond the scope of CAPS or if students need medication management outside of CAPS. Our Off-Campus Referral Guide is an excellent resource for helping students find a community therapist using their insurance. Once on the website, use the toggle for "Find a Therapist," at the top of the page and then enter the area you would like to find a therapist in. Valley Oaks: Offers in-office and virtual therapy, medication management, group therapy, substance use treatment and case management services. To begin with services, one would participate in open-access meetings for counseling only. Access days are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and on Fridays from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Clients would come in and complete paperwork and then be immediately assigned to a counselor. You do not need to make an appointment for this. Regarding medication management, the counselor would need to make a referral to one of their medication providers.
