The Campus Security Authority Training helps individuals understand the Clery Act and their roles and responsibilities as a Campus Security Authority (or CSA) in reporting Clery Act crimes to campus police. After completing this module, you will be able to explain your responsibilities as a Campus Security Authority, identify reportable crimes, and properly report these crimes to Purdue.

If you hold multiple positions and each require CSA training, the training will only be assigned to your “Primary” position in SF Learning.
The training is automatically assigned in SuccessFactors for employees designated as Campus Security Authority at Purdue. The training is only available to those who have been designated as a CSAs and no registration is necessary.

Why do I have to complete this training?
The Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act is a Federal law that requires colleges and universities across the United States to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses reported to local police agencies and Campus Security Authorities (CSA). Purdue is subject to the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, and as a result, the University is required to provide training to those whom the federal government considers “Campus Security Authorities.”
Can I opt out of this responsibility?
No. CSAs are designated based on federal law and University policy. CSAs are designated based on a position and not a specific person. The position is designated as a CSA regardless of the person in that position.
I’m also a Title IX Mandatory Reporter. Is being a CSA different?
Many CSAs are also considered Mandatory Reporters under Title IX and have reporting obligations under Title IX. If you are identified as one of the University’s Mandatory Reporters under Title IX, you will be required to complete additional mandatory Title IX training. A separate notification will be sent to you for this training, if this is the case.
Can employees who are not CSAs report Clery Crimes?
Yes. The University encourages all employees to report Clery Crimes, but CSAs are legally obligated to report incidents to the University.
