Scholarship Application

Before applying for Summer Stay Scholars, please review the following information to help you better understand the scholarship requirements.

How does it work?

If you are selected for the Summer Stay Scholars scholarship, you will receive a scholarship of up to $2,100 towards your estimated summer cost of attendance not already covered by other gift aid

Scholarships, Awards and Prizes must be considered educational resources for the student per federal
regulations. Therefore, any funds awarded to the student are reported to the Division of Financial Aid and
considered a part of a student's total aid package. Please note, students may not receive gift aid exceeding the total cost of attendance.

As a Summer Stay Scholar, you are required to take at least 6 credit hours and work at least 140 hours conducting faculty-led research or participating in an on-campus internship during the summer.

Who qualifies?

To qualify for Summer Stay Scholars, you must:

  • Be currently enrolled at Purdue University (West Lafayette or Indianapolis)
  • A GPA of at least 3.00 for research or at least 2.00 for internships
  • Undergraduate student status
  • Enroll in a mininum of 6 credit hours from Purdue University (West Lafayette or Indianapolis) during the summer
  • Additionally, students with current research or internships on or around the West Lafayette or Indianapolis campus can apply via the scholarship application for scholarship consideration.

**Institutional aid is only available to full-time degree seeking Purdue University (West Lafayette or Indianapolis students), guest students are not eligible**

Application Process

Students applying directly to one of the listed research or internship experiences need to send an email to the person indicated, expressing their interest in that summer opportunity and their resume. The experience will then select the names of their interested candidates to the Office of Summer and Winter Sessions, who will verify students have met the GPA elegibility requirement. 

Students not applying to one of the listed research or internship experienes, who have found their own research or internship experience will need to apply via the application link.

What is required for the application? 

The application will ask you for PUID, First, Preferred, Last Name, Purdue Email address and cell phone number.

Other questions include class standing, residnecy, Purdue University campus attending, major's college, primary major, summer courses taking this summer, whether the experience your listed is for research or internship, name of the research or internship experience, title of supervisor, their full name and Purdue email address.

Lastly, you'll answer a short essay that articulates how receiving a summer scholarship will enable you to reach your educational goals (300-500 words).  

Deadlines

The Summer Stay Scholars application is open click here, the application has a priority deadline of February 27 and a final deadline of March 27.
