Project CT: Rules of Life at the Interface of Calcium Signaling and Mechanobiology

A collaborative journal club effort proposing a unifying framework where calcium signaling governs biological organization across scales, identifying three Rules of Life linking calcium to cytoskeletal dynamics.

Rules of Life at the Interface of Calcium Signaling and Mechanobiology

Figure 36. The emergent features of biological robustness, signal integration, and organization are encoded by the dynamics of second messengers such as calcium ions (Ca2+) to regulate cellular processes such as cytoskeletal organization from the cellular to organismal level. We propose that Ca²⁺ signaling directs actin organization to coordinate diverse intra-, inter-, and multicellular behaviors across systems and scales, highlighting three transferable Rules of Life.
