When it comes to sustainability, the Purdue Surplus Store continues its quest to be a leader within the university and local communities. The Surplus Store has reduced, reused and recycled Purdue assets since the mid-1960s.
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Efforts
Purdue departments often partner with the Surplus Store to sell or dispose of electronics, lab and non-lab equipment, furniture and other items when they are no longer needed.
The Surplus Store’s objectives include
- Redistributing assets within the university
- Diverting items from landfills through the sale of merchandise
- Collaborating with Purdue’s Environmental Health and Safety department to reduce the university’s electronic waste, or e-waste
