Action Required: Upcoming migration of AO network drives
Purdue IT is implementing a new enterprise network storage platform called Qumulo. The upgrade will improve storage performance, reliability and scalability while supporting Purdue’s long-term technology needs.
On Thursday, June 18, files from the following drives will be migrated to the storage environment (Qumulo). While drive letters will remain the same, the underlying server and drive names will change. Files will be unavailable for a few hours.
| Drive | Current Drive Name | New Drive Name | Time of Migration | Date of Migration |
| L:\ | \\nas01.itap.purdue.edu\dcs_pfapp | \\wl.mydata.purdue.edu\ess_ao_app | 10:00am | 6/18/2026 |
| G:\ | \\nas01.itap.purdue.edu\dcs_pfproj | \\wl.mydata.purdue.edu\ess_ao_proj | 7:00pm | 6/18/2026 |
| K:\ | \\nas01.itap.purdue.edu\dcs_pfproj\archive | \\wl.mydata.purdue.edu\ess_ao_proj\archive | 7:00pm | 6/18/2026 |
In most cases, user mapped drives will automatically adjust to the new server paths and share names. Drives that have been manually mapped will not automatically adjust. Those drives will need to reconnected manually, but with the new server and drive name.
UC4 jobs are being adjusted when shares are migrated. The Qumulo project team is preparing for those changes.
Action Needed Before June 18
- From your Support Assistant app on the desktop (icon below,) print/capture the drives you currently have mapped, or click on the start menu, type CMD and open the Command Prompt app. At the command line prompt type “net use” and hit enter. This will display a list of drive mappings that you can copy and paste into a file for reference.

- Disconnect any manually mapped drives prior to the migration. Not doing so may negatively impact a user’s machine and require assistance from the IT service desk to correct.
If applications, scripts, documents or shortcuts reference the old server paths directly, they may need to be updated after the migration.
- Applications that use the full server path will need to be updated to point to the new location.
- Documents that reference files using drive letters (such as O:\ or U:) generally should not require any changes.
- UC4 jobs are being updated as part of the migration process by the Qumulo project team.
- Please ensure to restart your system following the migration. In some instances, multiple restarts may be needed.
