Road impacts scheduled for Indianapolis near site of Academic Success Building

Updated May 26, 2026 to reflect new dates for the W. Michigan Street closure.

Indiana Avenue

Indiana Avenue from N. West Street to N. Blackford Street in Indianapolis closed from May 18-23 to help facilitate new water connections for the Academic Success Building (ASB). Please note that the road will be closed again but an exact schedule is still being determined.

During the Indiana Avenue closure, access to the Urban League of Indianapolis and Walker Plaza parking lots will be available from the west, past the barricades at N. Blackford Street. Access to the Walker Theater will remain available through these parking lots.

W. Michigan Street

Beginning May 26, the westbound lanes of W. Michigan Street will be closed from N. West St. to N. Blackford Street. This closure is expected to last through June 6.

Motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists should use caution in these areas, obey all posted signs and seek alternate routes during the closures.
