Road impacts scheduled for Indianapolis near site of Academic Success Building
Updated May 7, 2026 to reflect new dates for the closures listed below.
Indiana Avenue
Beginning Monday, May 18, Indiana Avenue from N. West Street to N. Blackford Street in Indianapolis will be closed. The closure will help facilitate new water connections for the Academic Success Building (ASB). The closure is expected to last through Saturday, May 23.
A portion of the parking lot north of the main entrance and in front of the dock driveway at Sigma Theta Tau (STT) will also be unavailable during this time. Additionally, STT will be closed Thursday, May 21 and Friday, May 22 as water for the building will be shut off.
During the Indiana Avenue closure, access to the Urban League of Indianapolis and Walker Plaza parking lots will be available from the west, past the barricades at N. Blackford Street. Access to the Walker Theater will remain available through these parking lots.
W. Michigan Street
Beginning Tuesday, May 26, the westbound lanes of W. Michigan Street will be closed from N. West St. to N. Blackford Street. This closure is expected to last through Saturday, May 30.
Motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists should use caution in these areas, obey all posted signs and seek alternate routes during the closures.
