Campus building access and operational adjustments over the holidays, winter recess
Purdue Administrative Operations will be making several operational adjustments to services while there is limited campus activity during the time the university is closed for the holidays and winter recess.
Building access
West Lafayette
All academic and administrative buildings on the West Lafayette campus will be locked at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23, and will remain locked through Monday, Jan. 5, 2026. All Transact electronic door readers will follow this same schedule unless otherwise modified by the building deputy.
Individuals with building keys will continue to have access during this time. Electronic Transact door access is determined by the building deputy during this period.
Please note that certain areas of campus, such as libraries, may restrict access for students and the general public during winter break. For any access-related questions, please contact your building deputy.
Academic and administrative facilities will return to their normal unlock and lock schedule on Jan. 5, 2026.
Exceptions to the above schedule include the following:
- Athletics facilities
- Childcare facilities
- Córdova Recreational Sports Center: hours are available online
- Health care facilities
- Purdue Research Foundation facilities
- Residence halls
- Retail dining operations: hours are available online
- Stewart Center, Purdue Memorial Union and Union Club Hotel; hours are available online
- Veterinary Medical Hospital Complex
If other building access arrangements need to be made, please coordinate in advance with your building deputy.
Mail and deliveries
There will be no shipping and receiving to and from the West Lafayette campuses over the holidays and winter recess days, with the exception of dry ice and gas cylinders from Indiana Oxygen to support research. All campus deliveries will resume on Jan. 5, 2026.
Building walk-throughs
During the recess, staff at the West Lafayette campus will conduct building walk-throughs every few days to check systems operation and perform any maintenance needed.
Rental Car Services
Enterprise Rent-A-Car (765-463-4804, press * to be directed to local branch) located at the Purdue University Airport will be open during break, except on Christmas Day. Check with your local branch for holiday hours. Enterprise should be the primary source for car rentals on the West Lafayette campus.
