While progress continues on several capital projects at the West Lafayette and Indianapolis locations, various travel impacts will remain in place as the new academic year gets underway.
The following road, sidewalk and parking restrictions will be in place:
Sheetz Street: The northbound lane and sidewalk restrictions along Sheetz Street from Wood Street to Mitch Daniels Boulevard remain in place as construction on the new facility for the Daniels School of Business continues. The project is expected to be completed in April 2027.
Additionally, a section of Wood Street east of Sheetz Street remains closed in both directions, closing the entrance to the Dauch Alumni Center parking lot. The closure is expected to last until January 2026.
South Russell Street: Southbound South Russell Street, just south of Mitch Daniels Boulevard, will remain closed for construction on the Nursing and Pharmacy Education Building. South Russell Street will remain open to northbound traffic only through December 2026 when the Nursing and Pharmacy Education Building is expected to be complete.
MacArthur Drive: As construction on South Hall, the new residence hall located south of Hillenbrand Hall, continues, MacArthur Drive from Third to First Streets remains closed. All parking along this section of MacArthur Drive is unavailable, and alternate Residence Hall permit parking is available in the nearby McCutcheon Drive Parking Garage. The project is expected to be completed in June 2026.
University Hall: While the renovation project for University Hall wraps up, exterior window cleaning is set to take place Sept. 4 and 5. As a result, caution tape will be posted around the building during that time.
Purdue Memorial Union and Stewart Center Courtyard Plaza: The courtyard plaza between Purdue Memorial Union and Stewart Center remains closed to facilitate upgrades. The closure will last through November. The southwest entrance to the Purdue Memorial Union and east entrance to Stewart Center will also be closed during this time frame.
Academic Success Building in Indianapolis: A westbound lane of W. Michigan Street, located between N. West and N. California streets, is closed for construction on the Academic Success Building in Indianapolis. The closure is expected to last through April 2027. The two other westbound lanes and the eastbound lanes remain open.
Construction updates will continue to be posted on the construction and travel notices webpages for West Lafayette and Indianapolis.
