Purdue’s new online master’s in radiopharmaceutical manufacturing gives students hands-on experience in growing field
The field of theranostics, which involves using radiopharmaceutical drugs and diagnostic tools to treat various types of cancer, is expected to grow threefold by 2029 — transforming from a $4.3 billion to a $12.7 billion industry, according to BCC Research. Increased demand for radiopharmaceuticals is fueled by a growing population of cancer patients, the increasing costs of drug development and the need for therapies that target treatment-resistant cancers.
