T.J. Rosa was offered a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) award to Kenya. Although she was unable to go on her grant due to the pandemic, equipped with not only her major in elementary education but also her enthusiasm for theatre, she would have brought her experience to the language classroom. Having studied abroad in nearby Tanzania, T. J. Rosa was already familiar with this region and learned the basics of Kiswahili. While on her Fulbright, she looked forward to gaining more teaching experience and increasing her cultural knowledge.

From literacy to biology, T. J. Rosa has experience teaching students young and old. While directing a youth show as a senior in high school, T. J. Rosa discovered the powerful teaching tool of sharing stories through theatre. While on her grant, she planned to produce a play in English as an extracurricular activity that will help her students to develop their proficiency and confidence through a collaborative experience. Her English teaching experiences in Tanzania combined with her Fulbright grant in Kenya would have inform her future career as an educator.
