The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides post-baccalaureate funding for 8-12 months for individuals to study, research, or teach abroad while promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
Kelly Haddow received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) grant to teach English in Thailand. The chance to engage with a new community, learn Thai, and work in a cross-cultural environment attracted her to Thailand where she will seek to expand her understanding of empathy, communication, and perspective.
A strong supporter of self-advocacy, Kelly works towards empowering others to use their voices. In the classroom, this takes the form of guiding students and building activities that resonate with her current class such as dance choreography to improve memory and student engagement through movement. Outside of the classroom, she looks to combat health disparities through building relationships and improving communication strategies. Fulbright prepares her well for her future goals as she gains invaluable experience in both fields while in Thailand.
