Brooke Turner

Brooke Turner (Registrar): My son, John (Jack) Dempsey, had his STAR day the other day, and we wandered into the Office of the Registrar not knowing where to go for assistance with a perplexing Spanish placement exam question. The entire staff was remarkably understanding and helpful, especially Brooke Turner. While it was noon and lunchtime, Brooke took on the issue as if Jack were her own family member and worked with us until 1:30 p.m., calling numerous department offices in search of a solution to Jack's issue. I have been thinking of ways to describe Brooke's approach and truly believe it was what I have read about being a Boilermaker -- rolling up your sleeves until the job is done. That was Brooke -- working tirelessly and competently until Jack received information that would solve the problem. Jack proclaimed that Brooke was the most "helpful helper" he had ever encountered. I was grateful not only for Brooke, and the whole staff, but for my son to witness her example of how to problem solve and work resourcefully to find a solution, no matter how long it takes. Please know how much our family appreciated Brooke's tireless effort on behalf of Jack. – Jill Dempsey (parent)
