Purdue Policy Research Institute showcases Purdue op-eds

Op-eds effectively connect a wide audience with timely, cutting-edge research. On Feb. 29, Purdue Policy Research Institute (PPRI) will host the Purdue Op-Ed Showcase to highlight published op-eds from Purdue scholars. Participants will connect with Purdue colleagues and learn more about the value of op-eds in enhancing the impact of their work. Featured scholars include:

  • Kathryn Brownell, associate professor of history, senior editor of TIME’s Made by History column (moderator)
  • Lisa Bosman, associate professor, Technology Leadership and Innovation
  • Jennifer Hoewe, associate professor, Brian Lamb School of Communication
  • Cara Kinnally, associate professor, School of Languages and Cultures

The showcase takes place as part of Purdue Policy Research Institute’s ongoing Op-Ed Initiative, which helps faculty insert Purdue expertise into public and policy discussions. Led by Brownell, a PPRI Faculty Fellow, faculty are guided in op-ed development through a process of collaborative ideation, guided writing and pitching op-eds to editors. Through this initiative, Purdue faculty have published op-eds on STEM-, social science- and humanities-related topics in The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Conversation and more. Attendees who want to move forward with their own op-eds will learn how to participate in PPRI’s Op-Ed Initiative.

The showcase will be hosted at the Purdue Memorial Union. This event is free and open to the public. Faculty across disciplines are encouraged to attend. Interested individuals can learn more at the event information page. Registration is required to attend.
