Spring Fling registration deadlines approaching

Spring Fling, the appreciation event for faculty, staff, graduate student staff and retirees, is set to take place from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 25 on and around Memorial Mall. Deadlines to volunteer and register for events are quickly approaching.

A staff appreciation postcard mailed to employees in April includes information about events and can be used to enter door prize drawings. Those interested in entering the drawings should bring the postcard to Spring Fling and deposit it at the information table by 2 p.m. May 25.

The deadline to register for Spring Fling volunteer opportunities is 5 p.m. May 17. Volunteers will be assigned responsibilities like setting up and tearing down tables, chairs and tents; refilling food items; blowing up balloons; assisting event attendees at the information table; and picking up trash. Those who sign up will receive a T-shirt and three additional entries for door prizes.

Employees can reserve a tee time for the golf outing on the Ackerman-Allen golf course by calling 494-3139, ext. 1. Times are expected to fill up quickly and will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. The cost to play is $50 and includes 18 holes for golfers walking with a pushcart. Purdue staff IDs will be checked as players check in.

The deadline to register for the three-mile, noncompetitive fitness walk is 5 p.m. May 17. Participants can begin the walk between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., and all walkers must be finished by 3:30 p.m. 

Bingo, disc golf, yard games, fitness classes and the bloodmobile will not require registration.
