International Friendship Program seeking new hosts

The Office of International Students and Scholars is preparing to welcome 2,300 new international students to Purdue this fall semester. One way students are welcomed is through the International Friendship Program (IFP).

For the past 30 years, IFP has recruited faculty, staff and other community members who are willing to befriend a new international student by becoming a host. IFP host participants are encouraged to meet socially once a month with assigned students who are eager to get connected, make new friends and get bette acquainted with Greater Lafayette.

To learn more about what in-person meetings look like, faculty, staff and community members can view a host orientation online and register to attend a 20-minute online Q&A session.

July Q&A session start times are:

  • Tuesday, July 11, noon
  • Thursday, July 13, noon
  • Wednesday, July 19, 4 p.m.
  • Friday, July 21, 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday, July 25, noon
  • Thursday, July 27, noon

Hosts who have participated in IFP before and would like to be matched with a new student can log in to their host account to update their information and register for “Fall 2023 IFP.”
