Sen. Young visits campus to discuss CHIPS and Science Act, Purdue research

U.S. Sen. Todd Young (R-Ind.) on Wednesday (Feb. 22) visited Purdue’s West Lafayette campus to discuss opportunities related to the CHIPS and Science Act, including semiconductor workforce, innovation and manufacturing, digital plant science and synthetic biology, and hypersonic testing and energetic materials. He discussed with President Mung Chiang and Karen Plaut, executive vice president for research, the impact of these research advances to national security, economic security and food security.

Young toured Purdue’s hypersonic, semiconductor and plant science facilities in addition to visiting Stratolaunch. Purdue and Stratolaunch recently launched a new partnership dedicated to accelerating the time required to design, build, test and fly hypersonic vehicles.
