Faculty, staff sought to serve as Strengths Champions
The Roger C. Stewart Leadership and Professional Development Department, a part of Student Life, is seeking 50 individuals to serve as Strengths Champions on campus.
Since Fall 2016, all incoming Purdue students have had the opportunity to complete the free CliftonStrengths for Students online talent assessment, which strives to help students discover and develop their strengths. The assessment identifies students’ Top 5 Signature Themes from a list of 34 talents. Students are introduced to strengths concepts in their pre-arrival information and during orientation programs, and ongoing training is provided through workshops throughout the school year. More than 50,000 students, faculty and staff have completed the strengths assessment since its inception.
Strength Champions play a key role in helping students to understand and leverage their strengths. All Strengths Champions will be placed in one of two tracks: advisor or facilitator. The advisor track is for individuals who have many one-on-one interactions with students and a desire to use a strengths-based lens to advise and mentor students. The facilitator track prepares individuals to facilitate strengths with teams and groups in a workshop setting.
Strengths Champions will make a two-year commitment to serve from August 2022 to May 2024 with a possibility for renewal and access to additional professional development opportunities. The Roger C. Stewart Leadership and Professional Development Department will cover the cost of training, supplies and materials ($1,500 value) for each Strengths Champion. This program replaces the Strengths Coaches Initiative; returning coaches have the option of applying to be Strengths Champions.
All Strengths Champions will receive a Certificate of Learning from Gallup and a thank you letter from the department for their service and contributions to CliftonStrengths for Students at Purdue.
Details on training and responsibilities for each role are provided in the application. The deadline to apply is Wednesday (Jan. 12). For more information, email leadership@purdue.edu.
