Wear purple on Thursday to stand against violence in dating, domestic life
The Center for Advocacy, Response & Education (CARE) is asking all Purdue students, faculty and staff to wear purple on Thursday (Oct. 20) to show a united stand against dating violence and domestic violence.
Purple Thursday is a nationally recognized event in October for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. CARE is a unit within the Office of the Dean of Students on the West Lafayette campus.
Those who don’t have anything purple to wear can visit one of CARE’s tabling events on campus to receive a purple ribbon to take part in Purple Thursday. Tables will be available as follows:
- Monday (Oct. 17) – 11 a.m.-1 p.m. inside the Beering Hall lobby (first floor), by Loeb Fountain.
- Wednesday (Oct. 19) – 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. inside the Black Cultural Center lobby, off Third Street.
- Thursday (Oct. 20) – 9 a.m.-11 p.m. on Centennial Mall North, outside of WALC.
Everyone is invited to share their participation in Purple Thursday on Instagram by posting a picture including #PurpleThursday and #CAREtoEndDV and tagging @CAREatPurdue.
