MaPSAC’s Lovell Leadership Series to present Theresa Mayer

Theresa Mayer, executive vice president for research and partnerships, will provide leadership insights Nov. 14 in the Lovell Leadership Series, presented by the Management and Professional Staff Advisory Committee (MaPSAC).

The event, set for 9:30-10:30 a.m. ET, will offer both an in-person and virtual format. In-person attendance will be in Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship, Room 121. For the virtual event on Zoom, registration is required, and registrants will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. All university staff are welcome to attend with supervisor approval. 

Questions for Mayer can be emailed in advance to APSAC-PD@purdue.edu. This discussion will be moderated to minimize interruptions during the event. 

In her role at Purdue, Mayer oversees the university’s $690 million research enterprise and supports holistic engagements with federal, industry and global strategic partners.

Before arriving at Purdue, Mayer was vice president for research and innovation at Virginia Tech University and played an instrumental role in Virginia’s successful bid for Amazon HQ2 as well as the formation of the statewide Commonwealth Cyber Initiative. At Penn State University, Mayer served as the associate dean for research and innovation in engineering and the site director of the National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network, which enabled cutting-edge materials and techniques to be shared among researchers in academia and industry.

Mayer is widely recognized for her work in advanced manufacturing of nanoscale electronic, optical and biomedical devices, which has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health and the U.S. departments of Energy and Defense. Mayer has over 350 technical publications and invited presentations and tutorials, and she holds 10 patents in these areas. She served on the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology and is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. 

Mayer holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech and master’s and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from Purdue.
