CSSAC, MaPSAC hosting monthly lunches for new employees
The Campus Support Staff Advisory Committee (CSSAC) and the Management and Professional Staff Advisory Committee (MaPSAC) are hosting monthly bring-your-own lunch events for new Purdue employees.
The lunches aim to help new employees learn more about activities and opportunities offered by CSSAC, MaPSAC and Purdue, including employee discounts, educational grants, and activities and trips.
Amanda Emmons, 2022-23 MaPSAC chair, says the event provides useful networking opportunities for new employees and gives them a chance to receive answers to any questions they may have about working at Purdue.
“I’ve always been a firm believer in it isn’t what you know, but who you know,” Emmons says. “Having a network of peers to reach out to with questions is incredibly invaluable, and we want to unite new employees by providing that instant connection. We look forward to building these relationships and making new friendships along the way.”
A primary goal of the lunches is to foster a greater sense of community among employees and offer them a source of support as they navigate their new work environment.
“This new program ties into CSSAC’s goal of creating a greater sense of community and belonging at Purdue, and we hope this is a jumping-off point for a couple more ideas we have in the works,” says Laurie Hitze, 2022-23 CSSAC chair. “We want everyone to feel welcomed and supported.”
CSSAC and MaPSAC will host their lunches separately each month for new hires within that month.
MaPSAC’s next luncheon will take place from noon to 1 p.m. ET Sept. 27, and CSSAC’s will be from noon to 1 p.m. ET Oct. 18. Both lunches will take place in Wang Hall, Room 2501. Virtual attendance options are available via Microsoft Teams.
Those planning to attend virtually or in person are encouraged to register before CSSAC and MaPSAC’s events.
For more information, interested participants should reach out to the CSSAC and MaPSAC representatives for their areas.
