Purdue University President-elect Mung Chiang announced today (June 30) that he will meet and engage with faculty, staff and students at Purdue’s West Lafayette campus, including listening to every tenure-track/tenured, clinical and research faculty.

Chiang, who steps down from his current role as the John A. Edwardson Dean of Engineering today (June 30), will focus now on his continued role as executive vice president for strategic initiatives and on the transition to his new position, which begins Jan. 1, 2023.

During the 2022-23 academic year and spanning nine months, Chiang will host five faculty members in each half-hour listening session, with the goal of meeting with all the faculty colleagues by April 2023. With more than 2,000 faculty members, there will be approximately 450 sessions. The dates to sign up for fall 2022 sessions, starting Aug. 16, are available online. Faculty can choose to sign up for the date and time they prefer. Dates for spring 2023 will be made available at a later time. Faculty in the College of Engineering are encouraged to wait for the spring time slots, as many faculty have previously met with Chiang individually during his listening tour when he arrived five years ago.

Listening sessions with student, faculty and staff organizations will soon be arranged. Individual students and staff are also invited to sign up during the weekly listening hours online.

Later in the 2022-23 academic year, Chiang will visit Purdue's regional campuses, statewide locations, and Extension offices in all 92 counties.
