PURCE presentation to focus on supply chain challenges

The Purdue University Research Center in Economics (PURCE) is offering a lunchtime presentation Thursday (Jan. 27) that will focus on "Understanding Recent Supply Chain Challenges."

With ships at the docks waiting to unload, projected shortages at retailers, truck driver issues, and challenges with employee absenteeism and retention, the supply chain has been in the news a lot lately. Are global supply chain problems ones that will demand some fundamental change, or are they the natural outcome when demand grows rapidly and supply is curtailed?

Ananth Iyer, senior associate dean in the Krannert School of Management, the Susan Bulkeley Butler Chair in Operations Management and head of the Department of Management, will provide some data, suggest ways to understand supply chain challenges, and explore steps companies are taking to manage these challenges.

The host will be Kevin Mumford, the Kozuch Director of PURCE and associate professor of economics, and there will be a Q&A following Iyer’s talk.

To attend in person: RSVP online by Monday (Jan. 24). Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. ET with the presentation following at noon. The presentation will be held in Rawls Hall's Third Floor Commons. Protect Purdue safety protocols will be followed, and attendees are required to wear a mask covering their mouth and nose while indoors and not eating. Parking is available in the nearby Grant Street Parking Garage and a parking pass will be provided upon request at check-in.

To attend virtually: Register online by 10 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 27) to receive the livestream link. Guests will join the livestream at noon with no camera or mic option. Guests will be able to type and submit a question that the moderator can read to Iyer.
