CILMAR inviting proposals to develop portable intercultural modules in Brightspace
The Center for Intercultural Learning, Mentorships, Assessment and Research (CILMAR) is seeking proposals for the development of new portable intercultural modules (PIM) in Brightspace.
PIM are 60- to 90-minute autonomous learning experiences that meet specific intercultural and/or diversity, equity, inclusion and belongingness outcomes. They are designed for nonexpert instructors and co-curricular facilitators to import into their own Brightspace courses. Examples of current PIM include a focus on understanding accents different from one's own, intercultural collaboration, cultural self-awareness, and teaming.
Proposals should include learning outcomes, context and target audience, a brief description of some content, the appeal to more than one discipline, and evidence of student engagement and active/experiential learning. Selected projects will be supported with a budget for media development of up to $2,000, and $3,000 in discretionary funds will be awarded for projects completed by June 15.
Interested faculty and staff are invited to contact Aletha Stahl at stahl23@purdue.edu with questions and to request access to current PIM. Proposals will be accepted online through March 15.
