Veterans Day salute to take place at Union
Purdue will celebrate veterans Thursday (Nov. 11) at a Veterans Day ceremony in the Great Hall of Purdue Memorial Union.
The Purdue Student Union Board will host a tribute at 11 a.m. It will include “Presentation of the Colors” by Purdue University Tri-service Color Guard, the Pledge of Allegiance, the national anthem and patriotic songs by the Purduettes. A table of remembrance and moment of silence, and three memorial volleys will take place at the tribute, which is free and open to the public.
Scheduled speakers, each with a family member who served in the armed forces, are:
* Wendy Mouser, veterans certifying official in Purdue's Veterans Success Center.
* Scarlett Strong, a freshman in exploratory studies.
* Kaylee Seifert, a sophomore majoring in wildlife.
Following the tribute, refreshments will be available in Purdue Memorial Union, Room 118. Due to construction, attendees should enter PMU at the doors closest to Stewart Center.
The event is co-sponsored by Purdue Student Union Board, Purdue Student Veteran Organization and Veterans Success Center.
