Hammer Down Cancer Game: A time to support the fight

Purdue’s football game Saturday (Oct. 23) against Wisconsin will kick off the 2021-22 Hammer Down Cancer Game series in support of the Purdue Center for Cancer Research. One game in each of several Purdue sports will invite fans to donate to PCCR, one of only seven National Cancer Institute-designated Basic Laboratory Cancer Centers.

The Purdue Center for Cancer Research translates ideas into innovative technology and therapeutics that improve lives. More than 125 researchers across campus come together through PCCR to fight cancer. Importantly, this research is working; with multiple drugs in the pipelines, hundreds of patents, and many active clinical trials, Purdue is truly hammering down cancer.

At the game or online, Boilermaker fans and friends can raise money through crowdfunding. Signage for how to give will be on the giant video board in Ross-Ade Stadium and in the digital program. Also, the PCCR homepage has a link.

The PCCR events page will indicate coming Hammer Down Cancer games. The page has other information, including that fans can share their game day photos using #HammerDownCancer and tagging @PUCancerCenter.
