Purdue’s CARE office is asking all Purdue students, faculty and staff to wear purple on Thursday (Oct. 21) to show a united stance against dating violence and domestic violence.

Purple Thursday is a nationally recognized event in October for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. CARE is the Center for Advocacy, Response & Education, a unit within the Office of the Dean of Students on the West Lafayette campus.

Persons who don’t have anything purple to wear can visit one of CARE’s tabling events on campus and get a purple ribbon to take part in Purple Thursday. Tables will be available as follows:

  • Wednesday (Oct. 20) -- 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Centennial Mall North, outside of WALC.
  • Thursday (Oct. 21) -- 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Memorial Mall, in the center and fountain area.

Also, everyone is invited to share their participation in Purple Thursday on Instagram by posting a picture including #PurpleThursday and #CAREtoEndDV and tag @CAREatPurdue.

More information about Purple Thursday is available online.
