Applications invited for Provost Fellow
The Office of the Provost is seeking applications for Provost Fellow beginning in August 2022 and extending until May 2024. The Provost Fellow will be engaged with all units within the Office of the Provost -- most particularly Teaching and Learning, Diversity and Inclusion, and Enrollment Management -- and will serve as mentor to the Posse Foundation cohort of 10 diverse and talented undergraduate students who will be entering Purdue in Fall 2022. Posse Scholars receive a tuition scholarship from Purdue for all four years of attendance.
The Posse Foundation has partnerships with 64 institutions from across the United States. The mission of the foundation is to train the leaders of tomorrow by expanding the pool from which top colleges and universities can recruit outstanding leaders from diverse backgrounds and helping institutions build more interactive campus environments. Recent sponsors of Posse programs include Michelle Obama, Lin-Manuel Miranda and WarnerMedia.
The fellow will have opportunities for professional development and networking with other Posse mentors and Posse leadership. Mentor responsibilities will include:
- Attend three mentor training sessions before August 2022.
- Meet weekly for two hours, at a regular time, with the Posse Scholars as a group.
- Meet every other week with each Posse Scholar.
- Attend and help coordinate the annual PossePlus Retreat.
Tenure-track and clinical faculty (assistant, associate, or full) and experienced professional staff members on Purdue's West Lafayette campus are eligible for up to 35% FTE appointment for four semesters and the opportunity for summer support. Departments and units will recoup the salary savings associated with the Provost Fellow appointment.
Applications are due Dec. 3. Applications should be sent electronically to Shelly Dunk (sdunk@purdue.edu) with “Provost Fellow Application” as the subject line. The application should include:
- A letter specifying the applicant’s relevant expertise and experience.
- Current curriculum vitae.
- A letter of endorsement from the applicant’s department head or unit level supervisor.
