Purdue center to offer support groups this fall to students of color
The Purdue Counseling and Guidance Center (PCGC) will be offering two support groups this fall to Purdue students of color. Groups are scheduled to begin on Oct. 18 and will meet virtually on Mondays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. ET.
The PCGC is an educational training facility staffed by students and supervised by faculty in the Counseling Psychology Program in the College of Education. The center provides free counseling services to University students and members of the Lafayette and West Lafayette community.
The following are the groups offered by the PCGC this fall:
- The Students of Color Support Group: Open to any undergraduate, graduate or professional student of color on campus. In this space, any topic may be discussed — from academics to pandemic-related stress to racial and ethnic identity.
- The TAs of Color Support Group: Open to any graduate or professional student of color who is also serving as a TA. In this space, students are welcome to discuss any stressors related to being a TA of color on campus.
Individual counseling sessions are also offered with limited availability. To participate, a person must be physically present in the state of Indiana. To join the groups, book a brief phone screening appointment.
