International Friendship Program needs new hosts in August

The International Friendship Program, housed in the Office of International Students and Scholars, needs new faculty, staff and community volunteers who are willing to befriend the many new international students joining IFP for the Fall 2021 semester.

Opportunities for host and student involvement through the International Friendship Program abound, beginning with some students arriving in late July. IFP host participants are encouraged to meet socially once a month with their assigned students, who are eager to get connected, make new friends and to get better acquainted with Greater Lafayette.

To learn more about what in-person meetings will look like, faculty, staff and community members can view a host orientation online and then register to attend a 30-minute online Q&A session. Upon registration, participants will receive a Zoom link to join the meeting.

  • July 21 and 27 – 4:30-5:30 p.m. ET
  • July 28 -- Noon to 1 p.m. ET
  • Aug. 3, 12, 17, 19 and 24 – Noon to 1 p.m. ET
  • Aug. 5, 10 and 25 – 4:30-5:30 p.m. ET

Hosts who have participated in IFP before and would like to be matched with a new student for 2021-22 can log into their host account to update their information and register for “Fall semester 2021.”
