Black alumni to host virtual panel on ‘The State of Black Purdue’

The Purdue Black Alumni Organization (PBAO) will host a virtual panel discussion, “The State of Black Purdue,” at 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 11).

Presented in partnership with the Purdue for Life Foundation, this virtual panel will explore ways of building better connections between alumni and current students and the development of future mentorship programs. The event will include a half-hour of informal social interaction and an hour of engaging discussion featuring Purdue faculty, administrators and alumni.

Faculty and administration panelists include:  

  • John Gates, vice provost for diversity and inclusion.
  • Dr. Willie Reed, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine.
  • Renee Thomas, associate vice provost for diversity and inclusion and recent longtime director of the Black Cultural Center.
  • Virginia Booth Womack, director of the Minority Engineering Program in the College of Engineering.
