Cherise Hall, associate provost for finance and administration, has been promoted to vice provost for finance and strategic initiatives, effective immediately.

In her expanded role, Hall will lead the planning and implementation processes related to strategic, financial and administrative decisions affecting the academic enterprise on the West Lafayette campus while continuing to provide administrative leadership to the Institutional Data Analytics and Assessment (IDA+A) unit, according to Jay Akridge, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and diversity.

“With Cherise’s foresight and leadership, ‘IDATA’ became the cornerstone for our Protect Purdue efforts. The team created and managed dashboards of COVID-19 data, and many other management tools, vital to daily decisions about safety,” Akridge said. “I know she will continue innovating to expand the data analytics and reporting capabilities for the University, and to expand support for our strategic decision-making processes, in addition to the role she will play as a co-lead for  the Transformative Education 2.0 Next Moves initiative.”

Hall is a graduate of Purdue’s Department of Agricultural Economics and has worked in the finance areas of Purdue for 20 years. She has held the position of USDA account manager, business manager and assistant director of the Agricultural Sponsored Program Services Office. Before joining the Office of the Provost in 2018, Hall served as the director of financial affairs for the College of Agriculture for nine years. In that role, she served as the chief financial officer for the college’s budget and worked closely with the dean on all business matters involving personnel, finances, policies, salary recommendations and grant issues. She also served on the dean’s leadership team and played a role in implementing strategic initiatives.
