Parking and Transportation Services would like to remind the West Lafayette campus community that in many cases, a vehicle’s license plate is used for gated garage entry as well as parking enforcement in all garages and surface lots.

Drivers should keep their license plate clear of snow, ice, dirt and debris in order to facilitate parking in the gated garages and to help ensure the accuracy of parking enforcement and citation activities.

“It is important, especially this time of year with changing weather conditions and salt on the roads, to make sure the license plate is visible at all times,” said Ryan Gallagher, senior director of facilities operations, “Even if you already cleared snow from your car, take an extra moment to check the plate before you park on campus.”

If the license plate recognition cameras are unable to read a license plate at gated garages, entry or exit will be granted with the use of the physical garage access card. License plates should face the drive lane in all parking locations for enforcement purposes.

Questions may be directed to Parking and Transportation Services from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 765-494-9497 or parking@purdue.edu.
