Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities seeking student panelists for Community Standards Board

The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR) is recruiting student panelists for the Community Standards Board on the West Lafayette campus. The board is composed of faculty, staff and students from across campus who work together to make decisions that are best for the student in question as well as the community.

The Community Standards Board is responsible for hearing the most serious student misconduct cases that OSRR is responsible for adjudicating that may result in the suspension or expulsion of a student. This board requires a low time commitment and requires a student to participate in only one board hearing per school year after participating in a one-time training.

Caitlyn Buchanan, senior student affairs specialist, says that serving on the board is a great opportunity for students who may be interested in pursuing careers in law, criminology, psychology or education, or for students wanting to develop their critical thinking skills and learn to work with a variety of people to make important decisions.

OSRR is asking faculty and staff to share this opportunity with students that would be a good candidate for the board.

Interested students should visit the OSSR website to learn more about student panelist requirements and to apply to be a member.

Any questions or concerns regarding the Community Standards Board process and recruitment should be directed to Caitlyn Buchanan at buchan26@purdue.edu.
