January Term proposal and FAQs updated

Faculty, staff and students can now view an updated January Term proposal and responses to the FAQs on the J-Term website. The updated proposal incorporates feedback from faculty, staff and students, and includes responses to some of the most common questions being asked.

A recording of the virtual campuswide conversation held Feb. 25 and the results of a survey conducted by the Purdue Student Government are also available for viewing. In addition, the Provost’s Office hopes to continue the conversation by gathering feedback via a submission form on the site.  

The four-week J-Term would allow students to take courses needed to progress toward their degrees, participate in study abroad, enroll in immersive experiences, or take courses in subjects of interest that don’t fit into their normal semester schedule. Undergraduate and graduate J-Term courses could be offered through face-to-face, online or hybrid instruction. The proposed January Term would be managed much like the summer session, would be completely optional and voluntary for both students and instructors, and would not overlap with any other academic sessions.
