Second Annual Conference for Associate Professors set for March 5-6

The Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence in collaboration with ADVANCE-Purdue and the Office of the Provost will hold the Second Annual Conference for Associate Professors on March 5-6. The conference is titled "Breaking Barriers: Path Towards Promotion."

The conference program includes a keynote address, Coaching and Resource Network (CRN) table discussion and a National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD) workshop about planning a semester. Over the course of the conference, there will be opportunities to network, share information and learn from others in ways that will enable women associates to accelerate their progression to full professor. Although this conference targets women associates, the strategies and insights offered by the keynote speaker, panelists and in the workshop will be useful for all faculty members.

Keynote: "Authentic Inclusiveness for Growth" by Pamela E. Scott-Johnson, dean of the College of Natural and Social Sciences at California State University, Los Angeles.

CRN Table Discussion: Michele Buzon, professor of anthropology, Purdue; Sophia Lelievre, professor of basic medical sciences, Purdue; Maria Marshall, professor of agricultural economics, Purdue; Greg Shaver, professor of mechanical engineering, Purdue; Ann Weil, clinical professor of anesthesiology, Purdue. Moderator: Ximena Arriaga, professor of psychological sciences, Purdue.

Workshop: "Every Semester Needs a Plan," conducted by Lisa Hanasono, associate professor, Bowling Green State University on behalf of NCFDD.

The conference is open to all Purdue faculty -- clinical, research, associate, assistant, full. Faculty members may attend one or more parts of the conference. The workshop is especially relevant to all. Purdue faculty attending the conference, even if only the keynote, must register. Registration, which must be completed by Feb. 27, is available here.

More information, including the conference schedule, workshop and panel session, is available online.
