Poster session highlights graduate students' interdisciplinary health, disease research efforts

Recently, the seventh annual Health and Disease: Science, Technology, Culture and Policy Research Poster Session showcased more than 100 graduate student presenters from colleges across campus.

The event was sponsored by the colleges of Agriculture, Engineering, Health and Human Sciences, Liberal Arts, Pharmacy, Science and Veterinary Medicine; Purdue Polytechnic Institute; and Purdue Libraries and School of Information Studies..

Several other campus units also supported the program, including the Purdue Center for Cancer Research; Purdue Institute of Inflammation, Immunology and Infectious Disease (PI4D); Purdue Institute for Integrative Neuroscience (PIIN); and Purdue Public Policy Research Institute. The annual poster session aims to foster new interdisciplinary collaborations across a diverse spectrum of disciplines, and to enhance student communication and professional skills.

Posters from six categories — cancer; cardiovascular and metabolic diseases; health care and culture; health care technology and engineering; inflammation, immunology, and infectious diseases; and neuroscience and neurodegenerative disease — were evaluated based on the significance of the results and quality of the student’s presentation.
