Nominations sought for 2020 France A. Córdova Leadership in Action Award

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2020 France A. Córdova Leadership in Action Award.

This award, presented annually, recognizes undergraduate and/or graduate students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities. Nominees must have exhibited exceptional leadership during their Purdue career, as demonstrated by successfully holding significant leadership roles and by working in partnership with faculty and/or staff to move the University forward.

The award is given to one female and to one male recipient. The dean of each college is encouraged to work with their faculty and staff to nominate both a female and a male undergraduate and/or graduate student for consideration.

Nominees must:

  • Be candidates for graduation during the 2020 calendar year.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Have demonstrated success in leadership roles during their Purdue career.
  • Have demonstrated integrity, influence, and vision.
  • Have shown the ability to guide, motivate, and mentor others.

Recipients of the award are recognized at commencement, receive a cash award and a certificate of recognition, and will have their names engraved on a permanent plaque.

Nomination letters should be approximately two pages in length and attest to the demonstrated leadership abilities of the students, including examples of leadership roles and successes. The student's resume also may be included if available.

Nomination letters should be submitted to Harry Brown, associate director of the Leadership and Professional Development Initiative, at hebrown@purdue.edu as an email attachment or through campus mail to LPDI, KRCH, Room 336.

The deadline for submissions is March 13. Questions can be directed to Brown at hebrown@purdue.edu.
