The Center for Healthy Living on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus, in partnership with Purdue Extension Tippecanoe County, is offering a four-week Healthy Boiler series focused on learning how to reduce the risks of heart disease. The series supports the physical health pillar of the Healthy Boiler Program.

“Be Heart Smart” will begin Feb. 12 and meet weekly on Wednesdays through March 4. Sessions will be from noon to 1 p.m. in Stewart Center, rooms 311 (Feb. 12), 313 (Feb. 19), 311 (Feb. 26) and 278 (March 4).

The program will teach participants how to monitor their risk factors for heart disease and make simple changes to their daily routines that will improve their heart health. In addition, participants will learn what risk factors they can control, how using the DASH Eating Plan can help and how to incorporate physical activity to better their heart.

Those interested should register by Feb. 11 via the Healthy Boiler Portal (registration link can be found under “Wellness Events” on the portal’s homepage). Healthy Boiler workshops are free to benefits-eligible faculty and staff, as well as dependents covered on a Purdue health plan.

Questions about the series can be directed to Purdue Extension Tippecanoe County at 765-474-0793.
