Women in Engineering inviting high school freshmen, sophomores to Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day

Freshmen and sophomores in high school can pursue their interest in engineering through a free Purdue event on Feb. 29.

“Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day” is sponsored by the Women in Engineering Program and is targeted specifically toward young women with an interest in engineering. Participants will choose one of four engineering themes to explore during the day: Space, Engineering Everyday Products, Natural Disasters and Medical. Participants will be matched with a female mentor who is a current engineering student and will attend three hands-on engineering sessions focused on their assigned theme.

The day on campus will begin with check-in at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude with pickup at 3:45 p.m. Lunch in a dining court will be provided for participants.

An optional parent session, hosted by staff from the Women in Engineering Program and industry representatives, will occur from 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. Parents/guardians are encouraged to take advantage of local community or campus activities until they pick up their student at 3:45 p.m.

More information and online registration are available at www.purdue.edu/wiep. This opportunity is listed under the "Events" tab. Space is limited so early registration is encouraged. Registration deadline is Feb. 21.
