Purdue will celebrate veterans Monday (Nov. 11) at a Veterans Day ceremony in the Great Hall of Purdue Memorial Union.

The Purdue Student Union Board will host a tribute at 11 a.m. It will include “Presentation of the Colors” by Purdue University Tri-service Color Guard, the Pledge of Allegiance, the national anthem and patriotic songs by the Purduettes. A table of remembrance and moment of silence, and three memorial volleys will take place at the tribute, which is free and open to the public. There also will be a special recognition and display for the Purdue students who lost their lives during the Vietnam War in honor of the congressionally sanctioned Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemoration.

Scheduled speakers are:

* Marie Oberlin, midshipman third class, Purdue NROTC.

* Tabitha Bartley, disabled Marine Corps veteran and current director of the Women Veterans Alliance Greater Lafayette chapter.

* Larry Preo, sergeant E-5, 716th Military Police Battalion and retired executive director of Purdue Alumni Association.

Following the tribute, refreshments will be available in Purdue Memorial Union, Room 118, with a variety of displays.

The event is co-sponsored by Purdue Student Union Board, Student Veterans Organization and Veterans Success Center.
