Institutional data office changes name, refines mission

The Office of Institutional Research, Assessment and Effectiveness (OIRAE) now has a new name. Effective immediately, the unit will be called Institutional Data Analytics + Assessment or IDA+A (pronounced I-DATA) for short.

In December 2018, the office began reporting to the Office of the Provost. With that change in reporting structure, the office has realigned existing staff, redefined its mission and created a new name that better reflects the service it provides to the campus community.

Institutional Data Analytics + Assessment will report to Associate Provost Cherise Hall and has established the following mission:

"Institutional Data Analytics +  Assessment performs research, statistical and predictive analysis, and reporting for campus leaders and decision makers in support of evidence-based planning, evaluation, and assessment. We participate in ensuring well-defined, quality data is available. As part of the Provost’s Office, we directly support the academic enterprise as well as the campus at-large."

“I’m excited to bring the capabilities of IDA+A into the Provost’s Office,” said Jay Akridge, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and diversity. “The academic enterprise specifically and the campus broadly will benefit greatly from their expertise as we make the data-informed decisions needed to move our university forward.”

IDA+A’s service portfolio includes accreditation, Data Digest, management dashboards, tracking of rankings, federal and state reporting, data science, SERU and COACHE surveys, data governance and more.
