Flu shot events kick off today; multiple locations and event options available

Each year, communities across the nation prepare to fight the flu; the Purdue community is no exception. Flu shot events begin today (Oct. 9) on the West Lafayette and Northwest campuses and Thursday (Oct. 10) on the Fort Wayne campus. All benefits-eligible employees and spouses and dependents covered on a Purdue medical plan are eligible to receive the free vaccine.

Flu shot events – all campuses

Flu shot event schedules for all Purdue campuses are available on the “Faculty and Staff 2019 Seasonal Flu Shot Events” webpage. Appointments are not needed for the flu shot events; simply walk in when it is convenient during the days and times the shots are being offered. Note: Pediatric flu vaccines for the West Lafayette campus are available only at the Center for Healthy Living.

The Fluzone Quadrivalent vaccine, which is designed to protect against four different flu viruses -- two influenza A viruses and two influenza B viruses -- and is approved for anyone ages 6 months and older, will be administered at the on-campus flu shot events in West Lafayette. Additionally, the Flublok Quadrivalent vaccine -- which is egg-free and is approved for use in people 18 years and older -- will be administered at on-campus flu shot events on the West Lafayette campus.

For specific vaccine information for the regional campuses, employees should contact their respective campus Human Resources office.
