Guoping Feng’s leadership at MIT and Harvard has provided deep knowledge of genome studies and gene-editing techniques, which are much in the news. Like others in Purdue’s cutting-edge Ideas Festival, Feng will come and speak about what can happen for good, what is at risk and what all that means for society. The title of his talk is “Live Long and Prosper: The Promise of Science (Fiction) and Medicine.” Don’t Miss It!

The exhibition “Ministry of Truth: Art of the Propaganda Poster” will open its Oct. 14-Dec. 7 run in the Robert L. Ringel Gallery in Stewart Center. Artworks of varied approaches of how to influence the viewer; from Purdue Archives and Special Collections, the Tippecanoe County Historical Association and private collections. “Live Long and Prosper: The Promise of Science (Fiction) and Medicine” will be a lecture by Guoping Feng, Poitras Chair Professor of Neuroscience at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, also a leader at the Broad Institute at MIT and Harvard. The event’s theme question is “What IF Breakthrough Technologies Could Make Us Smarter?” This is an event in the Ideas Festival, the centerpiece of Purdue's yearlong Giant Leaps Sesquicentennial Campaign. 7 p.m. STEW, Fowler Hall.
